Regular and Common Prayers (Duas)

 

1. Dua for Leaving the House


Arabic:

بِسْمِ اللهِ، تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اللهِ، وَلَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللهِ


Transliteration:
Bismillāh, tawakkaltu ʿalā Allāh, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh.


English:
In the name of Allah, I place my trust in Allah. There is no power and no strength except through Allah.



2. Dua for Entering the House


Arabic:

بِسْمِ اللهِ وَلَجْنَا، وَبِسْمِ اللهِ خَرَجْنَا، وَعَلَى رَبِّنَا تَوَكَّلْنَا


Transliteration:
Bismillāhi walajnā, wa bismillāhi kharajnā, wa ʿalā rabbinā tawakkalnā.


English:
In the name of Allah we enter, in the name of Allah we leave, and upon our Lord we rely.



3. Dua Before Eating


Arabic:

اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِيمَا رَزَقْتَنَا وَقِنَا عَذَابَ النَّارِ


Transliteration:
Allāhumma bārik lanā fīmā razaqtanā waqinā ʿadhāban-nār.


English:
O Allah, bless for us what You have provided and protect us from the punishment of the Fire.



4. Dua After Eating


Arabic:

الْـحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَجَعَلَنَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ


Transliteration:
Al-ḥamdu lillāh alladhī aṭʿamanā wa saqānā wa jaʿalanā minal-muslimīn.


English:
All praise is for Allah who has fed us, given us drink, and made us among the Muslims.



5. Dua for Protection from All Directions


Arabic:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ خَلْفِي وَمِنْ أَمَامِي وَعَنْ يَمِينِي وَعَنْ شِمَالِي، وَأَعُوذُ بِعَظَمَتِكَ أَنْ أُغْتَالَ مِنْ تَحْتِي


Transliteration:
Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika min khalfī wa min amāmī wa ʿan yamīnī wa ʿan shimālī, wa aʿūdhu biʿaẓamatika an ughtāla min taḥtī.


English:
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from harm behind me, in front of me, to my right, and to my left. And I seek refuge in Your greatness from being struck from beneath me.



6. Dua in Times of Distress


Arabic:

لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ سُبْحَانَكَ إِنِّي كُنتُ مِنَ الظَّالِمِينَ


Transliteration:
Lā ilāha illā anta, subḥānaka innī kuntu minaẓ-ẓālimīn.


English:
There is no deity except You; glory be to You. Indeed, I have been among the wrongdoers.



7. Dua for Protection from Anxiety, Weakness, and Debt


Arabic:

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْعَجْزِ وَالْكَسَلِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْجُبْنِ وَالْبُخْلِ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ غَلَبَةِ الدَّيْنِ وَقَهْرِ الرِّجَالِ


Transliteration:
Allāhumma innī aʿūdhu bika minal-hammi wal-ḥazan, wa aʿūdhu bika minal-ʿajzi wal-kasal, wa aʿūdhu bika minal-jubni wal-bukhl, wa aʿūdhu bika min ghalabati-d-dayni wa qahri-r-rijāl.


English:
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from anxiety and sorrow, from weakness and laziness, from cowardice and miserliness, and from being burdened by debt or overpowered by people.



8. Dua for Ease in Difficult Matters


Arabic:

اللَّهُمَّ لَا سَهْلَ إِلَّا مَا جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلًا، وَأَنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الْحَزْنَ إِذَا شِئْتَ سَهْلًا


Transliteration:
Allāhumma lā sahlā illā mā jaʿaltahu sahlā, wa anta tajʿalu-l-ḥazna idhā shiʾta sahlā.


English:
O Allah, there is no ease except what You make easy, and You can make hardship, if You will, easy.



9. Dua for Guidance and Sufficiency


Arabic:

اللَّهُمَّ اهْدِنِي وَسَدِّدْنِي، اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ الْهُدَى وَالتُّقَى وَالْعَفَافَ وَالْغِنَى


Transliteration:
Allāhumma-hdinī wa saddidnī. Allāhumma innī asʾaluka-l-hudā wa-t-tuqa wa-l-ʿafāfa wa-l-ghinā.


English:
O Allah, guide me and keep me firm. O Allah, I ask You for guidance, piety, chastity, and self-sufficiency.



10. Dua for Forgiveness of All Sins


Arabic:

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي كُلَّهُ، دِقَّهُ وَجِلَّهُ، وَأَوَّلَهُ وَآخِرَهُ، وَعَلَانِيَتَهُ وَسِرَّهُ


Transliteration:
Allāhumma-ghfir lī dhanbī kullahu, diqqahu wa jillahu, wa awwalahu wa ākhirahu, wa ʿalāniyatahu wa sirrahu.


English:
O Allah, forgive me all my sins — the small and the great, the first and the last, the open and the hidden.



11. Dua of Reliance upon Allah


Arabic:

حَسْبِيَ اللَّهُ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ، عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ، وَهُوَ رَبُّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ


Transliteration:
Ḥasbiyallāhu lā ilāha illā huwa, ʿalayhi tawakkaltu, wa huwa rabbu-l-ʿarshi-l-ʿaẓīm.


English:
Allah is sufficient for me. There is no deity but Him. Upon Him I rely, and He is the Lord of the Mighty Throne.



12. Dua of Concluding Praise


Arabic:

سُبْحَانَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ الْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَ ۝ وَسَلَامٌ عَلَى الْمُرْسَلِينَ ۝ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ


Transliteration:
Subḥāna rabbika rabbi-l-ʿizzati ʿammā yaṣifūn, wa salāmun ʿalā-l-mursalīn, wal-ḥamdu lillāhi rabbi-l-ʿālamīn.


English:
Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of Might, above what they ascribe. Peace be upon the Messengers, and all praise belongs to Allah, the Lord of the worlds.
